"His ability to threaten vertically stems not just from top speed, but from his savvy pace control to sell routes. Trell Harris manipulates cornerbacks with a maturity beyond his years, creating separation on deep and intermediate patterns alike. He projects as a valuable #3 WR with the upside to become a solid #2."

01Play style

Harris projects as a dynamic outside receiver, embodying the modern vertical threat archetype. He operates with a long stride and linear acceleration that constantly challenges cornerbacks in Press-Man coverage. His game is built on an explosive release and an innate ability to manipulate a defender's leverage during the route stem, forcing defensive backs to play with extra cushion, which he exploits on comeback routes. While his physique is still developing, he displays notable aggression at the catch point, attacking the ball with extended arms and preventing defender contact from dictating the play's outcome. He is a player who thrives in broken play chaos, finding soft spots and offering a reliable target for his quarterback. His NFL projection largely depends on his ability to diversify his route tree and handle sustained physical contact at the line of scrimmage against heavier cornerbacks. Currently, his effectiveness is greatest on high-speed routes (Go's, Posts, Corners), but he needs to refine his footwork on 90-degree cuts to avoid relying exclusively on pure speed. Harris's ceiling is a solid WR2 in a system that values stretching the field, while his floor is a big-play specialist and a valuable special teams contributor. The major question for evaluators will be his consistency in traffic and whether he can expand his technical toolbox to become a reliable three-level receiver.

02What he does well
  1. 01

Linear acceleration and threatening top-end speed

Harris reaches top speed in few steps, forcing corners into premature backpedals. This vertical threat opens significant windows for the run game and intermediate routes by clearing the deep zone. In the NFL, this trait is critical for stretching Cover 2 defenses.

  2. 02

    Stem manipulation and tempo control

Displays unusual maturity for his age, varying route speeds to disrupt defender timing. He doesn't run every route at 100% intensity from the snap, allowing him to 'sell' a deep trajectory before breaking inside or outside effectively. This technical subtlety separates a sprinter from an elite receiver.

  3. 03

Extended catch radius and ball tracking

Possesses excellent hand-eye coordination to locate the ball in the air, especially on over-the-shoulder throws. His long arms and ability to adjust his body mid-jump allow him to bail out poorly placed passes outside his frame. This provides valuable margin for error to his quarterback under pressure.

  4. 04

    Post-catch competitiveness (YAC)

Despite not being the heaviest player, he uses strong contact balance and natural aggression to gain extra yards after the catch. He doesn't go down on first contact and actively seeks escape lanes at the defense's second level. His runner's mentality after receiving the ball is purely professional.

03What he's missing
  1. 01

    Physical Anchor vs. Aggressive Press

Against physical corners who get hands on him early in the snap, Harris sometimes sees his route significantly disrupted. He needs to develop more violent hand-fighting techniques to disengage and prevent his acceleration lane from being closed. In the NFL, initial jams will be much more potent.

  2. 02

    Rounding in Tight Cuts

On short routes like the Slant or Hitch, he tends to be inefficient with his steps, allowing click-and-close defenders to react quickly. He must work on being more explosive out of his breaks, minimizing extra steps to maintain earned separation. This lack of technical "edge" can limit his utility in third-down situations.

  3. 03

    Muscle Mass and Strength Profile

His current frame suggests he could benefit from adding upper-body power to sustain blocks and win contested catches. The transition to the NFL will demand he compete against Cornerbacks who average more muscle, making it vital that his gym development matches his natural talent. Without this added strength, he risks being pigeonholed exclusively as an outside role player.

Josh Palmer

Represents the most probable developmental curve: a valuable Z/slot receiver who can function as a quality secondary or tertiary target.

/ CEILING
Will Fuller V

This ceiling is reached if Harris maximizes his speed and combines it with his current tempo control to be a consistent home-run threat.

/ FLOOR
Quez Watkins

This is the floor if he fails to add functional strength or improve explosiveness in his breaks, limiting him to a one-dimensional role.

Trell's RAS will publish once the official testing drops.

The Relative Athletic Score needs the 40, vertical, broad jump, shuttle and 3-cone — numbers that don't exist until the NFL Combine or pro day. Until then we grade the WR on percentiles vs. his positional cohort (see athletic radar below).
