"Built for the grind of a zone-blocking scheme, Jadan Baugh's value isn't the home run, but consistently turning two yards into five. His low center of gravity and superb contact balance allow him to punish defenses and always fall forward. He projects as a dependable two-down starting back or the physical hammer in a committee."

01Play style

Jadan Baugh projects as a downhill runner with a robust physique and exceptional contact balance for his stature. Despite not possessing standard NFL prototype height, his lower-body weight distribution allows him to absorb lateral impacts without losing stride, operating with notable efficiency in zone blocking schemes. He demonstrates mature patience behind the line of scrimmage, allowing blocks to develop before attacking the gap with a short-area burst that surprises linebackers at the second level. His play style is physical and punishing, constantly seeking to finish plays with a low shoulder and gaining those extra yards after contact that define volume runners in today's league. His projection to the next level will depend on his evolution in pass protection and his ability to be a consistent threat in the aerial game. While he has natural hands, his catch radius is limited due to his build, and he still needs to refine his anchoring technique against larger blitzers. Baugh's ceiling is that of a starting running back in a heavy rotation system (RB1b), while his floor is that of a short-yardage specialist and high-impact special teams contributor. The big question mark for evaluators will be his long speed; while he is explosive in the first 10 yards, there is doubt whether he has the extra gear to avoid being caught by NFL defensive backs in the open field.

02What he does well
  1. 01

Low center of gravity and contact balance

Baugh possesses an exceptionally strong base, allowing him to bounce off shoulder tackles and remain upright after impacts that would fell taller backs. This ability to generate yards after contact (YAC) is his most transferable Sunday trait, enabling him to keep the offense on schedule in down-and-distance situations.

  2. 02

Vision and anticipation in zone schemes

Displays excellent eye discipline to identify the cutback lane or wait for the proper crease on outside zone plays. Rarely panics when the primary lane collapses, showing the technical maturity to redirect his feet without wasted lateral movement.

  3. 03

    Short-area burst

When planting his foot, Baugh exhibits immediate acceleration, allowing him to cross the line of scrimmage before defensive tackles close angles. This offensive click-and-close is vital in the modern NFL for exploiting minimal gaps against increasingly fast defensive fronts.

  4. 04

Violence at the point of attack

Plays with a very low pad level, granting him a natural leverage advantage against larger defenders. His consistent efforts to lower his shoulder and punish safeties in the open field establish a physical tone that NFL offensive coordinators value for wearing down defensive fronts in the fourth quarter.

03What he's missing
  1. 01

Limited top-end speed for the home run play

Tape shows he lacks elite breakaway speed to outrun secondaries on long pursuits; he's a 15-20 yard back, not a 75-yard threat. In the NFL, this could limit his role to a chain-mover rather than a consistent explosive threat.

  2. 02

    Technical refinement in Pass Protection

While willing in contact, his hand placement and positioning when facing blitzing linebackers show inconsistencies. He needs to improve his anchor and not solely rely on body mass to stop a defender's momentum, an indispensable requirement for playing on third downs.

  3. 03

    Restricted catch radius

Due to shorter limbs, he won't easily adjust to balls outside his frame. While functional on swing and flat routes, he doesn't project as a versatile receiver who can align in the slot or win on deep routes against linebackers.

Jadan's RAS will publish once the official testing drops.

The Relative Athletic Score needs the 40, vertical, broad jump, shuttle and 3-cone — numbers that don't exist until the NFL Combine or pro day. Until then we grade the RB on percentiles vs. his positional cohort (see athletic radar below).
