Duce Robinson

Florida State logoFlorida State· Sr· 5'11"· 220 lb

"A receiver with a running back's soul, Duce Robinson manufactures offense through physical punishment, not top-end speed. His contact balance and violent hand-fighting at the line make him a nightmare for cornerbacks, gaining yards after the catch where others cannot. His limited vertical separation is offset by an elite intelligence to exploit zones, projecting him as a quality starter and versatile offensive weapon."

01Play style

Duce Robinson is the modern prototype of a 'big slot' or 'Z' WR who operates with dominant physicality over the middle. Despite lacking the stature of a traditional perimeter receiver, his 220-pound muscular density allows him to absorb initial contact without losing contact balance and dictate terms against lighter DBs. At Florida State, Robinson has refined a powerful release off the line of scrimmage, utilizing an explosive jab step to create immediate separation. His greatest value proposition lies in yards after the catch (YAC), where he transforms into a power runner difficult to bring down in the open field. At the next level, Robinson projects as a versatile piece who can be moved across the formation to exploit mismatches. His ceiling is that of a volume receiver capable of moving the chains in critical situations and being a constant threat on crossers and RPO schemes. The primary question for NFL offensive coordinators will be his top-end speed on long vertical routes; while quick in short areas, his ability to consistently stretch the field against deeper Cover 2 or Cover 3 schemes still needs validation against elite corners. His floor is that of a reliable special teams contributor and an elite blocker in the outside run game.

02What he does well
  1. 01

Exceptional physical density and contact balance

His 220-pound frame is a defensive nightmare, allowing him to shed arm tackles with ease post-catch. Film shows him maintaining a low center of gravity, making it difficult for defenders to disrupt his route stem.

  2. 02

    Violent release and hand management

Robinson is adept at using swipe and rip techniques to disengage from corners playing press coverage. This technical aggression ensures a clean release, vital for quarterback timing in fast-paced schemes.

  3. 03

    Spatial intelligence against split safeties

He possesses a natural instinct for finding the 'hole' in zone coverages, stopping his route precisely where the defender's leverage is weakest. This eye discipline and adjustment capability make him a preferred security target on third downs.

  4. 04

    Dominant run-blocking

Unlike many prospects in his tier, Robinson commits violently to stalk blocking. He uses excellent interior hand placement to control defensive backs, turning outside runs into scoring plays thanks to his extra effort.

03What he's missing
  1. 01

    Long-range top speed

While explosive in the first 15 yards, he lacks that third gear necessary to separate from world-class corners on post or go routes. In the NFL, he'll rely more on technique and body control than pure speed to win deep.

  2. 02

Limited hip fluidity on sharp cuts

Due to his dense build, he sometimes shows stiffness when sinking his hips on 90-degree routes like digs or outs. These transitions can be a bit 'round,' allowing defenders with great click-and-close to shut down the passing window.

  3. 03

    Catch radius conditioned by wingspan

At 5'11", his comfort zone for catching the ball is compact, demanding high pass accuracy from his QB. He's not the type of receiver who will consistently win contested catches against 6'2" defenders with greater vertical reach.

/ LIKELY
Amon-Ra St. Brown

The most realistic projection is that of a high-volume slot possession receiver, becoming his QB's security blanket.

/ CEILING
Deebo Samuel

The ceiling is reached if a team utilizes him as a hybrid 'offensive weapon,' maximizing his brutality with the ball in his hands across multiple roles.

/ FLOOR
Jauan Jennings

His floor is that of a role player whose lack of athleticism limits him to being a key blocker and a possession receiver in specific situations.

Duce's RAS will publish once the official testing drops.

The Relative Athletic Score needs the 40, vertical, broad jump, shuttle and 3-cone — numbers that don't exist until the NFL Combine or pro day. Until then we grade the WR on percentiles vs. his positional cohort (see athletic radar below).
