Washington· Jr
"The ability to process at high speed and execute with an ultra-compact throwing motion allows Demond Williams Jr. to act as a catalyst in up-tempo offenses. Despite his obvious size limitations, his elusiveness and eye discipline often compensate, creating plays outside of structure. His NFL projection is that of a dynamic backup with potential as a spot starter or in a tailored system."
Demond Williams Jr. is the prototype modern dual-threat, compensating for his lack of stature with accelerated processing speed and an extraordinarily quick release. Operating in schemes demanding rapid reads and short-to-intermediate accuracy, he demonstrates a natural ability to extend plays through elusive pocket mobility; he doesn't just run for yards, but keeps his eyes downfield while moving laterally. His throwing mechanics are compact, generating notable velocity without a long wind-up, allowing him to punish tight windows in zone coverage before defenders can react. His projection as an NFL starter will depend almost exclusively on his ability to handle physical pressure and maintain his field vision from a pocket that will often dwarf him. Legitimate concern exists regarding whether his arm strength is sufficient to consistently attack outside lanes against elite press-man schemes. However, his clutch gene and the ease with which he dismantles defenses in off-script situations provide a high-level backup floor with a creative starter ceiling in a system designed to maximize RPO and movement-based play.
- 01
Compact, explosive throwing mechanics
The ball leaves his hand with minimal effort, utilizing a short-stroke release ideal for quick-passing schemes. This efficiency compensates for a narrow base in urgent situations, maintaining spiral and direction under direct pressure.
- 02
Elite elusiveness and short-area acceleration
Possesses lateral twitch that leaves defenders flat-footed, allowing him to escape the pass rush even when the pocket collapses immediately. His burst from zero to top speed provides a competitive advantage on designed runs and scrambles.
- 03
Mental processing and eye discipline
Despite his youth, he doesn't "marry" his first read and demonstrates maturity manipulating safeties with his eyes. He navigates progressions with rhythm, showing an advanced understanding of defensive spacing and when to abandon structure.
- 04
Surgical precision at short and intermediate levels
Places the ball with excellent touch on slant and crosser routes, facilitating YAC. His ball placement often protects his receivers from impending contact, evidencing a high level of technical anticipation.
- 01
Obvious frame and durability limitations
His slender physical build raises serious questions about how he'll absorb the physical punishment from NFL edge rushers over a 17-game season. Historically, QBs with his body type require very specific schemes that minimize direct impacts to avoid chronic injuries.
- 02
Deep ball inconsistency
While efficient in the 0-to-15-yard range, when attempting to stretch the field vertically, the ball tends to lose velocity and hang excessively. This allows cornerbacks with good recovery to close space and make plays on the ball, limiting his effectiveness on deep post or fade routes.
- 03
Obstructed pocket visibility
Tends to unnecessarily drift towards the perimeter when interior traffic increases, seeking clear sightlines. In the NFL, defensive coordinators will exploit this by forcing him to throw from a muddy pocket where his height can hinder reads on intermediate routes.

His value lies in being a game manager with a spark, capable of leading an offense with rhythm but lacking the arm to consistently stretch the field.
Both QBs capitalize on their out-of-structure creation and precise timing to overcome less-than-ideal stature.
An athlete whose game doesn't fully translate due to arm strength and visibility limitations, relegating him to a scout team QB role.

Demond's RAS will publish once the official testing drops.
The Relative Athletic Score needs the 40, vertical, broad jump, shuttle and 3-cone — numbers that don't exist until the NFL Combine or pro day. Until then we grade the QB on percentiles vs. his positional cohort (see athletic radar below).
