Farmer is a power player with uncommon length for the interior. Thirty-five-inch arms let him land first, and he uses them — long-arm, extend, shed — to control single blocks and reset the line of scrimmage. He holds up against down blocks, plays with heavy hands, and flashes a bull rush that collapses the pocket when he times the snap correctly.
Consistency is the whole problem. The pad level rises when he gets tired, the get-off is average and occasionally late, and the rush plan resets to power every snap. He plays too tall against double teams for a 305-pounder with his strength, and the finishing burst is not there — plenty of pressures, few of them turning into sacks.
The Patriots' defensive scheme primarily features a flexible 3-4 front that often shifts to a 4-3 under, utilizing gap assignments and strong-side run support.
Immediate rotational 0- or 1-tech with the ceiling to develop into a stout two-down starter capable of anchoring the interior run defense.

Farmer took four years to become a regular at Florida State, playing 42 games and finishing with 73 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and 11 sacks. The junior season was the best of it — 31 tackles, seven TFL and five sacks in 2023 — and the 2024 tape held up at 28 tackles and eight TFL even as the program collapsed around him.
The measurements are the selling point. At 6-3 and 305 pounds he carries 35-inch arms and a 10¼-inch hand, and he benched 26 reps. The movement testing was pedestrian: 5.11 in the forty, a 29-inch vertical and a 9-4 broad, numbers that fit a base defensive end more than a penetrating three-technique. No official RAS was published.
This is a developmental grade on tools that have not been coached into a rush plan. He can two-gap on early downs and win with the long-arm against a single blocker, but he needs a counter, better pad level and an offseason of get-off work before he is more than a rotational body. New England taking him in the fourth is a bet on length and a defensive front that develops power players patiently.

Year one was steady and unspectacular. Farmer appeared in 13 games with three starts and posted 15 tackles before New England placed him on injured reserve with a hamstring on December 23, closing the season early.
Thirteen games and three starts is more than most fourth-round interior linemen get, and it says the organization trusted the run-down snaps. What has not shown up yet is the pass rush — the same finishing burst the college tape lacked has not appeared against better guards, and the pressure-to-sack conversion is still theoretical. The long-arm plays at this level; the counter still does not exist. A healthy second offseason is the first real chance to add one.
