Horn is a 5-foot-8 slot receiver who plays almost exclusively from a reduced split and wins before the catch with tempo. He stems at three speeds, decelerates hard at the break point, and reads leverage well enough to turn off-coverage into free access on option and choice routes.
The second layer is what he does with the ball. Colorado handed him jet sweeps and screens because he has real burst through a crease, and Carolina drafted the return value that came with it. He is a bad matchup for zone defenses and a difficult one for press corners who can simply reroute him. The signature is suddenness at a size almost nobody else on the field carries.

A four-year slot producer who spent two years at South Florida and two at Colorado, ending with 162 catches for 1,967 yards and 11 touchdowns across 46 games. He was the small, quick complement in a receiver room that also produced Travis Hunter, LaJohntay Wester and Will Sheppard, and he never needed volume to matter.
His best year was 2023, his first with Shedeur Sanders: 58 receptions, 567 yards and six touchdowns, all team-highs or near it. The 2024 line dropped to 37 for 441 with one score as targets got sprayed across a crowded room, and the drops were real — nine in 2023, among the worst rates in the country, most of them concentration lapses rather than hands issues. He also carried genuine return equity as a first-team All-AAC kick returner in 2022.
The board treated him as a Day 3 slot-and-returner package: 4.46 speed with a 38-inch vertical, but 174 pounds and arms under 31 inches that get him bumped off route paths by anyone willing to touch him. Carolina used him immediately, if in small doses. Horn dressed for 13 games as a rookie in 2025 and finished with 11 catches for 108 yards on 15 targets, no touchdowns, plus eight carries for 69 yards on the jet and sweep looks that were the whole reason to draft him. He was on the field for the Panthers' wild-card trip and caught nothing in the playoff loss to the Rams. Nobody in Charlotte pretended he was more than a package player, and the punt-return job he was supposed to compete for never became his.
The honest read is that this was a reasonable Day 3 swing that has not yet paid. He is exactly what the tape said: quick, willing, and small enough that his usage is dictated by the play caller rather than by the defense. The gadget carries averaging 8.6 yards are the encouraging line in the box score; 9.8 yards per catch is the discouraging one. Year 2 is the year he either takes the third-receiver reps or gets replaced by a cheaper version of himself.
