Prince was drafted for speed, ball feel and a defensive résumé built almost entirely in the SEC, not for a clean linear development curve. He arrived at Ole Miss in 2019, played twelve games as a freshman, left for the transfer portal, missed the 2020 season entirely and came back to Oxford to start three straight years for Lane Kiffin's defenses. That gap is the first thing every room asked about.
The production is real and it is stacked at the back end of the profile: 146 tackles, six interceptions and six tackles for loss across 51 games, with a 2022 season worth eleven pass breakups and a 2023 finish that added a 44-yard interception return and a forced fumble. The flags were equally clear — 30 3/4-inch arms and eight-and-a-half-inch hands cap the press-man projection, and the frame invites questions against bigger boundary receivers.
Boards had him as a Day 3 zone corner with special teams equity, and his 4.38 in Indianapolis kept him from sliding out of the draft entirely. Jacksonville kept him on the initial roster as a rookie and used him sparingly: ten games in 2024, 101 defensive snaps, 24 on special teams, eight tackles and a single pass breakup. He never climbed past fifth corner, and when the Jaguars reshaped the secondary he was waived at the 2025 cutdown. From there the path went sideways rather than out — a 2026 UFL run with the Louisville Kings gave him six games and five starts, thirteen tackles and a 54-yard interception, which was enough to get him a Seattle workout in July and a Chicago contract on August 17, 2026.
In hindsight the evaluation was honest about him and the pick was priced correctly. Fifth-round corners with 4.38 speed and short arms are lottery tickets on special teams value, and Prince never won that phase decisively enough to stick. The trait that got him drafted is still there; the missing piece was the strength and press comfort teams flagged in March, and the lost 2020 season meant he was fighting for it on NFL time instead of college time.
