02Scheme fit
Ideal system

The Colts employ a quarters/Cover-2 heavy defense with a two-high safety look and an emphasis on preventing big plays.

Boundary CBCover-2 CBNickel CB
Best role

Year 1 will likely see him as a rotational outside corner with eventual upside to develop into a starting boundary CB.

Wrong fit

He would be a poor fit in a single-high Cover-3 scheme that asks corners to play a lot of isolated zone coverage.

Jones' size and tackling ability are well-suited for a zone-heavy scheme where he can be an immediate outside corner. But the 4.57 forty limits ceiling at boundary. His ability to move to nickel makes him more versatile.
