Mullen is a zone-heavy corner who excels at breaking on the ball and working from off-coverage, fitting well in a Cover-3 match or Quarters scheme.
As a rookie, Mullen can compete for a starting boundary cornerback role, projecting to be a long-term starter with ball-hawking tendencies.
A Cover-1 man-heavy defense that consistently asks him to play isolated on an island without safety help would minimize his strengths.
His athleticism and instincts make him a versatile piece for a secondary, but he thrives when he can read the quarterback and break on routes.
