As a rookie, Shelley will best be utilized as an immediate backup in the slot, with developmental boundary upside in a zone-heavy system. His ceiling is a starting slot corner with good versatility.
Shelley would struggle significantly in a Cover-3 dominant system where he would be asked to play deep thirds frequently.
Shelley is a competitive, feisty corner who plays with a physical demeanor and has the quickness and fluidity to excel in man coverage, but his size and length limit his upside on the boundary.
