02Scheme fit
Ideal system

The Washington Commanders run an outside zone run scheme focused on creating horizontal displacement and vertical cutback lanes for speedy, one-cut runners.

Best role

As a rookie, Marshall could immediately challenge for the primary third-down and change-of-pace back role, with a ceiling as a starting outside zone runner.

Wrong fit

A downhill power-gap scheme that consistently asks him to bang between the tackles would significantly diminish his impact and expose his size limitations.

Marshall's elite speed and vision make him a high-upside fit in Washington's system, provided he can stay healthy and acclimate to NFL pass protection. Despite the college production, I believe he'll be a steal for Washington. He has the potential to add 10-15 pounds to his frame without losing any speed, and become a true 3-down back.
