Johnson’s skill set is optimized for a dominant two-gap 3-4 defensive line, anchoring against the run while allowing linebackers to flow freely and make plays.
As a rookie, Johnson could be a rotational nose tackle, and eventually develop into a starting two-gap DE.
He would be a poor fit in a one-gap 4-3 scheme that asks its defensive tackles to penetrate upfront and focus on their own rush lane.
His size and power translate best to stopping the run up the middle, making him a valuable asset in specific defensive schemes.
