Shawn Williams is a box safety built for a run-first Cover-3 or Cover-1 defense, excelling in downhill run support and short-zone coverage rather than deep-half responsibilities.
As a rookie, he can contribute as a core special teamer and sub-package box safety, with the ceiling to become a full-time strong safety in a run-heavy scheme.
He would be a poor fit in a coverage-heavy two-high safety system that demands extensive deep-half or single-high coverage from its safeties.
