Mike Martin is an ideal fit as a 3-technique DT in an even-front scheme that emphasizes penetration using one-gap principles and an attacking style.
As a rookie, Martin projects as a rotational interior pass rusher with upside to develop into a starting three-technique within two seasons.
Martin's smaller frame and athletic penetration style would be wasted in a traditional 3-4 two-gapping defense, where he would be asked to occupy multiple blockers.
His athletic measurables and burst make him a strong fit for a modern NFL defense prioritizing disruptive interior line play.
