Irving is a downhill, sideline-to-sideline linebacker who excels in a 4-3 Cover-2 scheme that allows him to play aggressively at the line of scrimmage and fill gaps.
Year 1 rotational depth with special teams contributions, with the ceiling to become a full-time starter in a run-stuffing role.
Any scheme that requires extensive man-to-man coverage responsibilities, especially against slot receivers or tight ends downfield.
A stout run defender with good instincts, but limited in coverage, best suited for a system that can mask his pass defense deficiencies.
Selected #67 overall in Round 3 of the 2011 NFL Draft by Denver Broncos out of NC State.
