02Scheme fit
Ideal system

He's a solid fit for a press-man heavy defense that values physical corners on the outside, specifically a Cover-1 or Cover-3 scheme.

Best role

Murphy projects as an immediate special teams contributor and potential nickel package corner, with the ceiling to develop into a starting boundary corner.

Wrong fit

A purely zone-heavy scheme (e.g. Tampa 2) that asks him to read and react in space rather than engage receivers at the line of scrimmage may limit his effectiveness.

His physicality and willingness in run support complement his press-man coverage skills, making him a good fit for defenses that prioritize disrupting plays at the line.

04The evaluation

Selected #65 overall in Round 3 of the 2010 NFL Draft by St. Louis Rams out of South Florida.
